For centuries the Forresters have been loyal bannerman to House Stark: A house of traitors. You rely on your ironwood, that much is clear. It'd be a shame to see it fall into the hands of another house.

House Forrester is a noble house from the North of Westeros, well known for their harvesting of the rare ironwood trees. Seated in Ironrath in the Wolfswood, they are vassals of House Glover of Deepwood Motte. They, like the majority of other Northern houses, worship the Old Gods of the Forest.

They are ruled by Lord Rodrik Forrester or his younger brother Asher Forrester.

Their words are "Iron From Ice", which echoes their belief that - like the ironwood itself - the adverse conditions and unforgiving landscape of the North only makes them stronger.

History[]

House Forrester was founded 50 generations ago by Gerhard Forrester, also known as Gerhard the Tall. 1500 years ago, Cedric Forrester and his triplet sons founded Ironrath, the stronghold of the house. Since then, the Forresters have become renowned for their preservation and craftsmanship of the rare ironwood trees that grow in the Wolfswood, particularly around Ironrath, their knowledge and possession of the Ironwood has allowed the family to enrich themselves.

The Forresters have long been rivals to House Whitehill of Highpoint, the sworn bannermen of House Bolton. The exact origins of the rivalry are unknown, but part of it seems founded on the ironwood. The Whitehills argue that the Forresters took all of their ironwood, while the Forresters say that the Whitehills clear cut all of what they were given.

The rivalry between both houses extends into the territory separating Ironrath and Highpoint. Around twenty years before the events of the story, the Whitehills controlled the river valley separating the two houses until it was taken back for the Forresters by Lord Thorren Forrester, popularly known as Thorren the Bold.

When Eddard Stark raised his banners in rebellion of King Aerys Targaryen, the Forresters and their Glover liege lords pledged their fealty to Robert Baratheon. Lord Thorren was slain by Targaryen loyalists at the Battle of the Trident, resulting in his son, Gregor, becoming Lord of Ironrath.

During the War of the Five Kings, the Forresters again fought with the Glovers - this time for Robb Stark, the King in the North. At the Battle of Duskendale, the Forresters suffered losses while fighting crown loyalists, partly as a result of the then-unknown treachery of Roose Bolton. However, thanks to their unswavering loyalty and renown in combat, the Forresters were valued enough by their liege lords to lead the Northern forces as the vanguard after the wedding between Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey at the Twins.

Iron From Ice[]

As the Forresters celebrated at the Red Wedding along with the rest of the northern army, they were betrayed by House Frey, along with their new allies - Houses Bolton and Whitehill. The majority of their men were slaughtered, including Lord Gregor. Rodrik Forrester the eldest son and heir, was also believed to have been killed during the massacre, but he survived with severe injuries. Before his death, Lord Gregor entrusted the family sword to his squire, Gared Tuttle, and told him do the deliver a message to his Uncle, the castellan of Ironrath Duncan Tuttle, which is "The North Grove must never be lost."

With the death of Gregor and the apparent death of Rodrik, the house was in turmoil. The burden of leadership was passed to the young Ethan Forrester, third son of Gregor, who became Lord of Ironrath. Shortly after his appointment as Lord, Lord Ludd Whitehill visits Ironrath after Gared Tuttle, the squire of Lord Gregor, kills a Bolton and determinately a Whitehill soldier, he demanding justice, but regardless of how Ethan decides to handle this meeting, Lord Whitehill leaves enraged, remarking that he will have Ramsay Snow come to Ironrath.

Lord Ethan then must deal with some internal matters in house at Ironrath, such as the selection of his Sentinel, either Duncan Tuttle or Royland Degore and passing judgement on a thief, but mostly notably he must devise a strategy on how to deal with Ramsay.

Meanwhile, in King's Landing, Mira Forrester, the eldest daughter and handmaiden of Margaery Tyrell is summoned by Cersei Lannister, Cersei questions House Forrester's loyalty to the king and the new Warden of the North, Roose Bolton, Mira responses to Cersei's inquiries will determine Cersei's opinion of Mira and her house.

Tyrion Lannister also proposes an alliance between House Forrester and the Crown, which Mira can choose to accept at the risk of disappointing Margaery and angering Cersei. Later, she also can ask Margaery for assistance from Joffrey, but if she does Margaery tries but she cannot get the help Mira needs.

During the meeting with Ramsay Snow, Ramsay decides to split the ironwood forests between the two houses to see who fares better. Ramsay then has Lord Whitehilll install a garrison of twenty men at Ironrath, Ramsay then promptly stabs Lord Ethan through the neck, killing him. He then orders Ryon, the fourth born son, to become a ward of House Whitehill, making the new lord a hostage and leaving the fate of the house in a precarious position.

The Lost Lords[]

With only two Forresters left at their seat of Ironrath, Lady Elissa Forrester and Talia Forrester, the youngest daughter. Lady Forrester, in a desperate attempt to help her house, sends Malcolm Branfield, her brother, to Essos to bring Asher Forrester home to Ironrath to aid the family.

But then, something unexpected happens. A cart is brought to Ironrath with corpses of Forrester men slain at the Red Wedding, amidst the bodies emerges Rodrik Forrester who, whilst badly wounded, survived the massacre. Maester Ortengryn tends to Rodrik's wounds as he regains his strength to lead House Forrester back from the brink of collapse. The Whitehill garrison causes problems, being either drunk or starved, such as blocking Rodrik's entry into his own hall.

Rodrik enters the great hall and attends a small council meeting with his household, they discuss on how to deal with the Whitehill threat stationed inside their own walls, Lady Elissa also mentions that Elaena Glenmore, Rodrik's betrothed, is coming to Ironrath to visit Rodrik, which could prove beneificial to the house, since House Glenmore's backing could make the difference in changing the fate of the House for the better.

Malcolm locates Asher in Yunkai, after a brief skirmish with the Lost Legion. He, Asher, and Beskha set out to Meereen to call in a favor from Croft, a Second Sons who Asher knew in the past in order to get the army to help save the house.

In King's Landing, Mira is writing invitations to the royal wedding, when she receives a letter from her mother asking to ensure Rodrik's betrothal to Elaena Glenmore stays in tact, implying that she wants Margaery's help. If Mira didn't for Margaery's help in dealing with Ramsay's arrival to Ironrath, Margaery helps Mira of her own initiative and writes a letter to House Glenmore encouraging the union between the two Houses, If Mira did ask for help in dealing with Ramsay, then Margaery refuses to help, noting that if she wrote to the Lady Elaena she would be forcing her hand. Mira can choose to forge a letter to Elaena, or finish writing invitations to the other guests.

Tyrion invites Mira to a meeting with the merchant lords of House Whitehill, Lord Andros and Lord Morgryn. He dismisses the pair, and he and Mira come to a deal that Tyrion will consider, in exchange for a favor.

Rodrik attempts to secure the loyalty of House Glenmore through the marriage alliance to Elaena Glenmore. If Mira didn't manage to get Margeary's help in securing the bethrotal, Elaena will express doubts in moving foward with the marriage, considering House Forrester's current status, but Rodrik can convince her by swearing to give House Glenmore half of their Ironwood forests, which is worth a considerable fortune.

If Mira or Margaery wrote to Elaena, it would play out with Elaena feeling forced but Rodrik could still secure the marriage if he assures her that he won't force her into marriage if she doesn't wish to marry. Lord Whitehill, invited to Ironrath by Lady Forrester to ask for Ryon's attendance to the funeral of his father and brother, bursts into Ironrath and after provoking Rodrik a bit, asks him to kneel before him and kiss his family ring as a show of obedience and to ensure Ryon's presence at the funeral, regardless of Rodrik's compliance or defiance, Ludd will assume entire control of the ironwood supply, ignoring the wishes of their overlords, the Boltons.

Mira later enters her chambers to find it searched, with a letter on her bed asking her to meet someone in gardens at midnight for information on Tyrion Lannister, there she meets Damien, a Lannister guard who protected the door when she and Tyrion met earlier, he tries to kill her, but Tom, a coal boy who had helped her previously, comes to her rescue. While Damien deals with Tom, Mira can choose to stab him or flee, and throw away the knife, or hang on to it, but ultimately escapes.

The funeral is held for Gregor and Ethan Forrester at Ironrath. Ryon Forrester is either able to attend or Gwyn Whitehill comes in his place (player-determined).

The Sword in The Darkness[]

As Asher, Beskha, and Malcolm flee from the Lost Legion towards Meereen, they come across a cave. They enter it, followed by the Legion, and encounter the dragon Drogon. Beskha or Malcolm can be burned by the beast, but they escape with a dragon tooth as Drogon flies off.

In King's Landing, Tom, angered or relieved to see Mira depending on wherever Mira helped him with Damien or fled with her life, briefly informs Mira on the situation concerning Damien. In the throne room, Cersei tells Margaery of Mira's dealings with Tyrion, angering her. She warns Mira to not let it happen again.

Ironrath is waken in the night by the Whitehill Garrison as Gryff Whitehill arrives, he proclaims himself lord and invites himself and his men into the great hall. After, the whole council meets in the grove and discuss a plan about either saving Ryon or exiling Gryff and his men. Duncan notes that the Whitehills have raided Forrester lands, burnt farms, and cut down ironwood trees. In private, Duncan tells Rodrik that Gwyn Whitehill wants to have a meeting with him.

As Margaery prepares for the wedding, Tyrion enters the gardens while Mira attends to Margaery's wishes and asks to speak to Mira privately. The player can choose to either stay with Margaery or speak privately with Tyrion. Regardless, Tyrion informs Mira of a royal decree arranging the Crown to buy Forrester ironwood. Margaery, no matter your choice, is angered and has Sera Durwell do her gown and hair. Sera later mentions that while she was getting Margaery prepared, Margaery was talking about who she could replace Mira with.

Lucan, a Lannister guard who saw Mira in the gardens with Damien, attempts to interrogate Mira, but Lord Morgryn comes to her rescue by making Lucan spill wine on his shirt, and then proceeding to threaten Lucan and takes Mira to clean himself up. After that, Morgryn notes that Mira managed to secure an Ironwood deal with the crown, and that together they can control the Ironwood market and enrich themselves. However, before their conversation can finish, Joffrey is poisoned, and Tyrion arrested, Morgryn realizes that now is a very bad time to be associated with Tyrion. Mira rushes to Tyrion's chambers and manages to steal the decree.

In the night, at a ruined farm, Rodrik meets with Gwyn privately. She informs him about her father knowing about their plan, due to there being a traitor in the council. She also warns him that her father is making plans against House Forrester, he sent a great deal of gold to someone in King's Landing, and that Rodrik must submit to Gryff to save his family. Whitehill soldiers start coming and Rodrik leaves before they notice him.

Across the Narrow Sea, Asher's group arrives at Meereen, and meet Croft, he explains that he can't join them since he's sworn to Daenerys Targaryen, he arranges a meeting with Daenerys after Asher shows either Malcolm's or Beskha's burns or a dragon tooth as evidence that they encountered Drogon.

The day after, Gryff grabs Talia Forrester and shows that she bit one of his soldiers, and says she must be punished, he can be further angered if Rodrik struck a Whitehill soldier who was mocking Ethan's death. Gryff wants Rodrik and all the Forresters to submit to his rule, and claims that he is the new Lord of Ironrath. Gryff then strikes Rodrik and beats him in front of his family, the garrison and the Ironrath smallfolk, Rodrik can choose to submit to Gryff or keep getting back up and proclaming that he's the only true ruler of House Forrester.

Mira, after successfully stealing the decree, can either burn it or keep it. Asher is granted his meeting with Daenerys, who warns him to speak carefully of her dragons.

Sons of Winter[]

Asher, Malcolm, and Beskha meet with Daenerys, who does not believe that they actually encountered Drogon. She asks for firm evidence, to which Asher can show his companions' burns, a dragon tooth, or flat out refuse. She refuses his request for the Second Sons, stating that her cause against the masters and the liberation of Meereen is bigger than them. Before Croft and his men can escort the group out, Daenerys is informed of Beskha's history in Meereen, which Beskha reluctantly confirms. Daenerys proposes that Asher and Beskha can helps the Second Sons, and guide them into Meereen in exchange for a reward. However, she has Malcolm stay with her during their mission.

Ironrath is once again visited by Elaena Glenmore, along with her brother Arthur and the elite guard of House Glenmore. Lord Whitehill has threatened Lord Glenmore and his family with destruction alongside the Forresters if he did not agree to a marriage between Elaena and Gryff, Lord Glenmore accepted and now Elaena and Arthur have come to Ironrath to ask for Rodrik's help in getting rid of Gryff.

Mira walks through the Red Keep, she meets Tom and they walk together. Tom informs Mira that her brother Rodrik's information was correct, Lord Whitehill is sending a great deal of gold to someone in King's Landing. Tom also states that the only people he's certain Lord Whitehill is dealing with are the Ironwood merchants, who will attend the coronation feast. Mira responds by telling him that due to Margaery's anger at her, she has been forbidden from attending. Tom offers a solution in asking Sera to help her.

Rodrik, Elaena, and the elite guard march into Ironrath, where Lady Forrester informs them that Gryff and the Maester were arguing and things quickly got violent. Rodrik tells the Glenmore guards that when he strikes his cane, they are to march in and secure Gryff and his men. Rodrik and Elaena enter the great hall and see Gryff and his men beating the Maester. Gryff is surprised at Elaena's appearance. After a brief confrontation between Gryff and Rodrik, Rodrik strikes his cane and the whole guard march in and capture Gryff and his men, determinately killing one. Rodrik can brutally beat Gryff and potentially blind him in his left eye before he and his men are taken to the cellars. Ortengryn is taken away to be treated, and Lady Forrester tells Rodrik that word of this cannot reach Highpoint and orders to kill all the ravens and bar the gates, so the traitor cannot spread the word.

At Tommen's coronation feast, Mira, although uninvited, manages to convince Sera to let her in. Lord Garibald Tarwick is formally introduced to Mira by Sera. She excuses herself to see Lord Andros and Lord Morgryn arguing. She eventually finds out through Lyman Lannister, Andros's new business partner, that Andros is planning on acquiring a sellsword army for House Whitehill, Mira can lead Lyman to break his business relationship with Lord Andros by revealing that Andros has been gossiping about Lyman's milk of the poppy addiction pubblicly. Andros furiously confronts Mira, and she departs the feast.

Back at Ironrath, Rodrik speaks with Talia about Gryff. Duncan, Royland and Elissa come to them and Royland lets them know that they've been invited to Highpoint for a 'truce'. Rodrik has to choose whether to bring the Glenmore elite guard to Highpoint to guard him or to have them stay at Ironrath and protect the keep. Rodrik can also choose who to bring with him, Duncan or Royland. Gryff is then seen being put into a cellar.

Asher joins the planning for the raid into Meereen. He and Beskha will join Croft in taking down the east guard post. Daenerys warns before they go that if they disobey Croft's orders they will get nothing for their efforts. During their raid, Beskha encounters her old master, Dezhor zo Raza, and Asher can either kill Dezhor zo Raza himself, let Beskha kill him and jeopardize their reward, or stop her. Either way, they continue to the guard post, which they successfully take down.

At Highpoint, Rodrik meets with Gwyn and the two of them discuss the long history between their two houses. Gwyn will be upset if Rodrik brought the Glenmores, she will also be upset if Rodrik implies that he expects danger, she defends her father by stating that he honors guest right. They enter the dining hall, and notice the bread and salt set on the table. When Lord Whitehill arrives, they all sit down and Ludd proposes a deal between the Forresters and the Whitehills, the Forresters will help produce Ironwood for the Boltons, and the Whitehill will ensure that the Forresters survive.

Negotiations quickly sour and Ludd threatens to have Gryff burn Ironrath to the ground and kill all the smallfolk residing in the keep, Rodrik then reveals the imprisonment Gryff and the garrison and offers to trade him back in exchange for Ryon. Ludd orders his men to fetch Ryon and threatens to kill him with a dining tool. Rodrik can choose to beg for mercy, call his bluff on not caring for Gryff, or accepting his deal to help the Whitehills craft ironwood for the Boltons. They leave Highpoint without Ryon, as Ludd insists their trade shall be made on neutral grounds, a son for a son.

Royland/Duncan, the elite guard (depending on if you brought them with to Highpoint), Elissa and Rodrik return from Ironrath to find it deserted, and if the Glenmore guards were left to defend it, they will also find arrows and drops of blood on the ground. Rodrik hears laughter coming from the Great Hall. He enters it and finds Ramsay Snow dining in his hall while talking with Talia Forrester. Ramsay notices him, stands up and tells Rodrik that people have said he's a man that can't be broken, and that he's decided to come see for himself.

A Nest of Vipers[]

Ramsay Snow converses with Rodrik in the Ironrath Great Hall, shortly after he leads Rodrik to the Ironwood grove, where he reveals a half flayed Arthur Glenmore, he beats Rodrik to the grounds and states his initial intention to kill Rodrik for his disobedience, but has now decided to no longer interfere in the conflict between the Forresters and Whitehills, instead letting the "Last house standing win." . He then kills Arthur Glenmore and sends his men back home. Meanwhile, in Meereen, Asher is unable to enlist the help of the Second Sons from Daenerys Targaryen, since she needs every one of them to hold Meereen now that it's under her control, so he instead manages to enlist the help of pit fighters, and sets sail towards Westeros, without Malcolm, who chooses to serve under Daenerys in the hopes that she will prove a formidable ally when she returns to Westeros.

In King's Landing, Mira has successfully foiled Andros' plans to secure a sellsword army for the Whitehills, at the cost of the protection of Lady Margaery, and has attracted the attention of Cersei Lannister, who convinces her to find out who Tyrion Lannister intends to call to testify at his trial. in exchange Cersei promises to deal with Andros. Mira visits Tyrion and quickly determines her true intentions, if Mira keeps lying to him he expresses his disappointment in her but he'll be somewhat cooperative if she's honest.

Back at Ironrath, Talia Forrester enters Rodrik's chambers to speak with him in private, she reveals that she has uncovered the identity of the traitor of the house. Determined to expose the betrayer, Rodrik immediately heads to the great hall. Depending on who Ethan didn't choose to be his Sentinel in Iron From Ice, the traitor will be either Royland or Duncan. Talia, Lady Forrester, some Forrester guards, and your Sentinel will approach, announcing that Gryff and the Whitehill garrison have escaped, the traitor confesses that he was responsible for Gryff's escape, since Ludd planned to ambush Rodrik at Ryon's trade, freeing him was in his opinion justified as the only way to save Rodrik. Rodrik prepares to execute the traitor, but he also reveals that Asher's life is in peril, and he will unveil Ludd's plans for him if he is spared. If showed mercy to, he reveals that Ludd Whitehill plans to ambush Asher the moment he lands in Westeros. Whatever fate you choose for the traitor, Rodrik, his Sentinel, and a group of Forrester men-at-arms ride for the coast to protect Asher.

Asher, Beskha, and the pit fighters arrive in Westeros. Rodrik meets Asher and his group, but their reunion is cut short by a Whitehill soldier from the garrison, who lowers the port town's gate, separating Asher, Rodrik, the Beast, several pit fighters and Forrester men-at-arms from your Sentinel, Beskha, and the rest of the pit fighters and Forrester men, simultaneously, Whitehill soldiers emerge from the nearby buildings and engage the Forrester forces . Harys kills the Beast as he attempts to raise the gate, as the rest of the men fight. Asher and Rodrik run to the gate lever to raise it, but even with their combined strength, they cannot raise the gate, since it's stuck. One must stay behind. The player chooses which brother stays. Whoever you don't choose to stay escapes with the remaining Forrester forces. The one who stays fights the Whitehill men, killing several before being hit by crossbow bolts, and being stabbed repeatedly before dying. The brother who flees becomes or remains the lord of House Forrester.

The Ice Dragon[]

In the lands Beyond the Wall, Gared has succeeded in finding the North Grove. There he discovers a secret that Gregor Forrester has carried to his death. He meets Josera and Elsera Snow, who are the bastard children of the former Lord Forrester, both who are wielders of magic, Elsera is a Blood Witch while Josera is a Warg. Shortly after their meeting a large group of wights begin their assault on the Grove and Gared joins the bastard twins and their warriors in battle. After the battle, Gared has the choice of either strengthening Elsera's blood magic by cutting out the dying Cotter's heart or keep his promise to Sylvi by giving Cotter a painless death through Nightshade. Afterward, Gared either decides to take the Grove's powerful guardians to Ironrath in order to assist the Forresters or follow his lord's last word of ensuring that the North Grove will never be lost by staying and fortifying the Grove.

Meanwhile, in King's Landing, Mira loses the protection of Lady Margeary, either due to revealing her schemes or due to the vile rumors about her. As Mira prepares to flee, her enemies starts plotting to kill her. Spreading rumors that she murders Lannister men in their sleep, the rumors are further aggravated by the fact that Mira was the last person seen with Damien before he disappeared. The Lannister guards begin a manhunt for Mira. With Tom's help, she was able to get to the streets of King's Landing where she meets Lord Morgryn who invites her to his cart so he can accompany her to the River Gate, where hopefully she can escape to safety. But it was all a ploy to lure her into a false sense of security. Confident of his victory, Morgryn reveal that he was the one who bride Damien to murder her and gloated that now he and Ludd will control the Ironwood trade. After Mira provokes him by highlighting that trusting Ludd or his ability to take care of the Ironwood Forests is a mistake, the merchant lord angrily pushes her out of his cart and to Lucan who then has Mira imprisoned and awaiting imminent execution.

In her cell, she is visited by Lord Morgryn who realized that Mira was more useful alive. He offers to save her life, in return for becoming his wife and producing his heirs, thus putting him in a position to inherit Ironrath since he was sure that the remaining Forresters in the North would be soon slaughtered. Mira can either accepts and betrays Tom in order to get spared or refuse to give him Ironrath and subsequently gets executed.

The survivors of the ambush regroups and starts heading back to Ironrath under the leadership of either Rodrik or Asher. With the Whitehills marching their entire army on Ironrath, intent on completely destroying House Forrester, all that is left is for the Lord of Ironrath to gather the full remaining strenght of the House and defend Ironrath to the last man. The Forresters fight valiantly, but the Siege of Ironrath ended with the fall of the keep and the death of many inhabitants, among them includes Elissa Forrester and Maester Ortengyn. Thanks to the action of the Sentinel, the Lord of House Forrester managed to escape with his life, albeit heavily wounded. The siege wasn't without cost for the Whitehills, as the battle results in either the death of their lord, Ludd or his youngest son Gryff as well as their lieutenant Harys and many soldiers.

After some time, in the dead of night at a destroyed village, the injured Lord Forrester was found by his sister, Talia who is joined by either the Sentinel, the Traitor or Gwyn. They took the injured lord to safety and vow to continue the war against their bitter rivals.

In another place in the North, Beshka is escorting Ryon to safety.

Military Strength[]

During the Young Wolf's campaign against House Lannister, the forces of House Forrester distinguished themselves in several battles, including the Battle of Whispering Wood, they proved to be excellent warriors, and were chosen to ride in the vanguard on the planned attack on Casterly Rock. House Forrester's owning and production of Ironwood shields and weapons give them a combat advantage over their enemies.

Given House Forrester's status as a minor noble house, it can be assumed that they had an army of hundreds of soldiers, this assumption is supported by the fact that their adversaries, the Whitehills, were also a minor house but were capable of mustering a similar military force.

Following the Red Wedding, however, most of their best men were killed. The situation worsened following the death of Ethan, with a considerable number of the remaining men deserting their posts. Ser Royland Degore, the master-at-arms, states he can muster an additional 30 to 40 men, in addition to their current forces and the pit fighters, but most of the remaining Forrester army was slain during the Siege of Ironrath, effectively leaving them with no army.

The average Forrester soldier wears a dark green coat with a light grey or white shirt under it, this is further reinforced by a suit of studded leather armor worn on top; they also wears a pair of brown leather boots and gloves. The soldiers are often equipped with helmets and Ironwood shields embellished with a dark green Forrester sigil.

They are often equipped with swords, daggers, spears, one handed axes, bows and crossbows.

The Lords of the House often wear better protection in the form of full plate armor.
